OKAKA FC U-20 team has once again etched their name in the history books by winning the LDFA U-20 League title for the third consecutive season. The young champions displayed remarkable skill, determination, and teamwork throughout the season, culminating in a commanding 1-0 victory over Young Stars FC in the league final held at the National Stadium.
The final delivered everything a cup final promises. Young stars Fc took a strong start, but OKAKA's response was immediate and emphatic. Defender and skipper Sodiq Adebayo scores in the 28th minute with a composed finish after a slick passing move, and the striker put the academy ahead before the interval with a powerful header from a perfectly delivered corner.
The second half belonged entirely to the boys in green. OKAKA controlled possession, pressed intelligently, and sealed the victory after the 90th minute. The final whistle sparked wild celebrations among players, coaches, and the hundreds of academy supporters who filled the stands.
The team finished the season with an impressive record of 18 wins, 2 draws, and only 1 loss, scoring 62 goals while conceding just 12. The campaign also produced nine clean sheets and individual milestones, including a hat-trick by Sodiq Adebayo in the semi-final and the league's joint-best assist tally for Sunday Bamidele.
Speaking after the final match, Head Coach Peter praised the players for their dedication and hard work throughout the season. The achievement is the latest milestone in a development pathway that has seen academy graduates move into professional football. Five members of this championship-winning squad have already been involved in national team programmes, and the Club scouting network continues to track their progress closely.
Dr Arinze Madueke congratulated the entire U-20 squad and coaching staff on this historic achievement. "Three titles in three years is not luck. It is the result of a structured programme, world-class coaching, and young men who buy into the academy's values of discipline, teamwork, and excellence," he said. "This victory belongs to the players, their parents, and everyone who supports this great institution."
The academy will now shift focus to the Youth Cup campaign, with the U-20 team looking to add another trophy to an already remarkable collection.
